Benoit Lavinal joined the Green Investment Group in 2021 to develop and lead the procurement activities at CORIO leveraging his 15+ years of experience in offshore wind. CORIO is the offshore wind platform of Green Investment Group, launched in April 2022 to focus its efforts in becoming a leading global offshore wind developer. He is based at the CORIO headquarter in London.
Prior to joining CORIO, Benoit developed the renewable procurement organisation for onshore and offshore wind at Vattenfall, leading a diverse and international team through a transformational industry journey. During his time at Vattenfall, Benoit established Vattenfall as one of the front runner in driving down the offshore wind cost of electricity, securing the industry first subsidy free bid with Hollandsee Kuist Zuid bid in 2019.
Putting sustainability at the centre of its efforts, his team developed several novel approaches to evaluating and driving sustainable procurement. In his last two years at Vattenfall, Benoit led the renewable M&A activities though a corporate task force, establishing several offshore wind partnerships for fixed and floating wind projects.
Before his role at Vattenfall, Benoit spent 10 years at General Electric in various commercial roles globally, starting with GE Capital in 2000 and then joining GE Power in 2004 in their wind commercial function. Between 2009 and 2011, he led the commercialisation efforts and product development of the offshore wind platform acquired by GE. He holds a Six Sigma Black Belt which he earned through multiple optimisation projects for GE’s gas turbine customers across the globe.
Benoit holds a Masters in Advanced Computer Science from the University of Manchester and an MBA from the University of Warwick. Benoit and his wife Oxana reside in London and have 2 children.
