Morten Dyrholm was appointed as Chairman of GWEC in May 2016. The Global Wind Energy Council represents the major companies as well as the major wind energy associations (China, India, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Canada, USA, Europe, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Korea, South Africa and Turkey) involved in the global wind industry.

Morten Dyrholm became Group Senior Vice President for Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs for Vestas in August 2016.  Prior to that, he was Global Vice President for Vestas Wind Energy, where he led Marketing, External relations and Public Affairs. He has been with Vestas for the last ten years and is an expert in wind energy policy and regulation.

Dyrholm has extensive experience from the wind industry around the world, in particular from Asia, and has worked three years for Vestas in China where he was in charge of business development and governmental affairs. He holds a Master degree in Political Science and Chinese Politics.

At GWEC Morten Dyrholm is working to ensure that wind power takes its rightful place in the energy options for the future; and with opening up new markets for the industry in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
